Homeschool Umbrella Services

Choosing an umbrella program in Tennessee offers families the freedom of homeschooling with the structure and support of an established school. Category IV schools are Church-Related Schools*, authorized to operate homeschool umbrella programs, as recognized by associations mentioned in TCA 49-50-801. With The Academy for GOD, you will receive:

1. Peace of Mind with Legal Compliance

Umbrella programs help families stay in compliance with Tennessee homeschooling laws by managing required documentation and communication with the state or local district. This allows parents to focus on teaching—not paperwork.

2. Official Records, Transcripts, and Diplomas

Students enrolled in The Academy’s umbrella program benefit from maintained academic records, including attendance, grades, transcripts, and diplomas. This can be especially helpful for college applications, scholarships, employment, or transferring schools.

3. Flexible, Family-Chosen Curriculum

Families retain the freedom to choose curriculum and learning styles that best fit their child—whether faith-based, classical, hands-on, or interest-led—while still being covered under a recognized school structure.

4. Guidance and Support for Parents

The Academy offers ongoing support and resources to help parents confidently navigate homeschooling at every stage, from early learners through high school.

5. Community and Enrichment Opportunities

Umbrella students have access to school events, athletics, extracurricular activities, and graduation ceremonies—helping students build relationships and enjoy meaningful shared experiences.
